Artist and designer Trygve Faste creates work that ranges from conceptual painting to functional objects.  He is currently running his studio out of Eugene Oregon where he lives and works.  Trygve Faste’s paintings have been exhibited nationally, and he has worked professionally both as an independent artist/designer, and at various design firms including IDEO and WET Design.  He received an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Painting and is currently a full time faculty member at the University of Oregon in the Product Design Program.

My work lives at the intersection of art and design.  This stems out of my curiosity as to how humans create their own physical reality.  Through the manufacturing and invention of our surroundings we now live in a complex environment of objects ranging widely in their purpose from pragmatically functional to whimsical fashion statements.  These creations foster all ranges of emotion from joy and desire to jealousy and fear.  Consumer culture, of which both art and design are integral, necessitates innovation, creativity, style, seduction and manipulation to propagate itself.  My work engages conceptual issues of material creation through imagination, planning, and impulse.
